It seems that everyone has an opinion on the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight, and all of the pre-fight shenanigans. It also seems as though everyone wants to know what everyone else thinks. Case in point, TMZ asked David Spade of all people what his feelings were.
A TMZ reporter bumped into Mr. Spade and, apparently operating under the less than zero percent chance that it’s not completely staged, asked Spade if he thought McGregor would be fined for his racial overtones, including calling Mayweather “boy.”
Spade had an unrelated, but certainly entertaining take.
“Those two jabbering during that…I just saw their mouths moving. They talk like two chicks at brunch. I’ve never seen that much talking in my life. They were like ‘blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.’ They’re both going at the same time. No one is listening. I don’t know what’s going on. I think McGregor wins because even if he gets the s*** kicked out of him, he gets like, $50 million. He’s winning either way, of course…I think.”
If Spade has never seen that much talking in his life, we can safely assume that he didn’t watch any presidential debates in 2016.
In all seriousness, he’s right.
In a boxing match, it’s hard to imagine McGregor much of a match against Mayweather. By his own admission, Mayweather isn’t the fighter that he once was. Still, he is 49-0 as a professional and has fought far more accomplished boxers than McGregor.
But even if the fight ends up in an early knockout, it will be hard to have too much sympathy for the loser once he collects his paycheck.
