Green Bay Packers star Davante Adams will miss “Monday Night Football” against the Atlanta Falcons and the Pro Bowl receiver isn’t too happy about the team’s medical decision.
Hours before the Packers are even set to release their injury report for Monday night’s game, Adams revealed the news on Twitter and unleashed his frustrations with the decision.
It’s hard to blame the 27-year-old for being upset. He already missed Week 3 with the hamstring injury, which both sides were hopeful would be his only absence. Instead, with the Packers on a bye in Week 5, Green Bay’s medical staff is keeping the No. 1 wide receiver out for another game.
Adams missed four games during the 2019 season and it resulted in him falling three yards shy of a 1,000-yard season. With Allen Lazard sidelined indefinitely following core muscle surgery, Aaron Rodgers would have relied on his No. 1 receiver even more against the Falcons.
It’s an especially unfortunate absence given the matchup. Atlanta’s secondary entered Week 4 allowing the second-most passing yards (350.3) and the most points (36) per contest in the NFL. This would have been the perfect opportunity for Adams to return and post monster numbers, in an offense firing on all cylinders.
Of course, Green Bay needs to think about its best interest for the entire season. Rodgers should still lead them to victory over the Falcons, giving the Packers a 4-0 record heading into the bye. When they return for Week 6, Adams will be at 100% and this offense could be even more difficult to stop.
