Dallas Cowboys legend suing Marriott for $100 million following Super Bowl week allegations

Dallas Cowboys legend Michael Irvin has gone on the offensive following a claim of improper conduct at a Marriot Hotel he was staying at for Super Bowl LVII coverage.

Earlier this week, it was first reported by the Dallas Morning News that Irvin, an employee for NFL Media and a consistent guest on ESPN television shows, was pulled from NFL Network Super Bowl coverage that he was scheduled for the rest of the week.

The decision came down after a female employee at the Marriott hotel in Phoenix — the site of this year’s big game — filed a claim that the NFL Hall-of-Famer conducted himself in a very improper way during an encounter in the hotel. The incident also led ESPN to remove him from planned guest spot on Friday.

The Dallas Cowboys great claimed confusion following the incident and told a Dallas radio station, “I don’t really recall that conversation, to tell you the truth. We were out drinking. It was just a friendly conversation. ‘What’s up?’ I don’t even know … I am totally perplexed.”

Well, it seems that Irvin believes the claim was damaging to his current career and is aiming for ramifications against Marriot and the unidentified female employee.

On Friday, Front Office Sports revealed that Michael Irvin “has filed a $100 million lawsuit against Marriott International and an unnamed Marriott employee who accused him of misconduct.”

In the suit obtained by the outlet, the former Dallas Cowboys wide receiver’s lawyer states their client was “kicked off the air” and “canceled” in media circles due to the allegations. He also reportedly lost out on several paid appearances this week due to the accusations.

“Actions have consequences. Rash and thoughtless actions can have severe consequences. Marriott apparently did not appreciate these simple truths when, in a rush to judgment, its employees and management inaccurately and inflammatorily accused Mr. Irvin of misconduct to the National Football League.”

It is unclear how NFL Media or ESPN will handle the situation with Irvin going forward.
