Dak Prescott not worried about NFL defenses

All eyes have been on Dallas Cowboys rookie quarterback Dak Prescott during the summer.

The fourth-round pick has been nothing short of a stud, completing 22-of-27 passes for a total of 338 passing yards and six total touchdowns in his two preseason games.

There’s been absolutely nothing rookie-like about his play thus far, as evidenced by the quarterback’s equally impressive confidence in himself.

That’s on them if they want to throw vanilla or rocky road or whatever they want to throw at me,” he said, per Jon Machota or The Dallas News. “It really has no (bearing) on what I do. I just go out there and try to concentrate on our game plan and play my best.”

Dallas starter Tony Romo might just be a tad nervous about Prescott’s intentions moving forward.

“My mindset is I want to be a starter for this organization one day, and a starter in this league for a long time.”

Romo’s job is likely safe for the time being. But he had better hope that the injury bug stays far away this year.

Prescott’s preseason performance has obviously impressed those around the league. We must wonder if the former Mississippi State standout had covered for Romo last year would the team have finished better than its last-place standing.

While it is easy to get excited about Prescott, we must remember this is still the preseason.

Though, anybody criticizing the Cowboys for not addressing their backup quarterback situation in free agency can bite their tongue.
