D.C. United claimed forward Ramon “Wanchope” Abila off waivers from Minnesota United, the team announced Thursday.
Also, D.C. United loaned forward Erik Sorga to Dutch club VVV-Venlo.
The 31-year-old Abila had two goals in 10 matches for Minnesota United this season.
“Bringing in a player of Wanchope’s quality will reinforce our squad with another proven goal scorer as we head into the second half of the season and continue our push for MLS Cup Playoffs,” D.C. United president of soccer operations Dave Kasper said in a statement. “Having depth this year is more important than ever with a condensed schedule, and we are very pleased with this addition.”
The 22-year-old Sorga didn’t score in four matches (three starts) for D.C. United this season. Last year, he had one goal in 17 matches (six starts).
