Colt McCoy Re-signs, Redskins Trio of Quarterbacks Returning

The Washington Redskins have reportedly re-signed quarterback Colt McCoy to a one-year deal.

McCoy’s re-signing will keep him in backup status along with Kirk Cousins sitting behind the team’s starting quarterback Robert Griffin III.

During his 2014 season with the Redskins, McCoy played in five games where he passed for 1,057 yards, scored four touchdowns and had three interceptions. Starting four games for the team, McCoy led Washington to only one win in the process.

Offering little appeal to other teams, McCoy now returns to a quarterback situation that was downright dreadful last season. The trio of returning signal callers tallied 18 touchdowns compared to 18 interceptions and were sacked a ridiculous 58 times.

At this time, Jay Gruden plans to steer ahead with RGIII in control. However, it would not be a total surprise to see McCoy and/or Cousins see some action under center.
