Colorado Rockies starting pitcher Jon Gray lands on 10-day injured list

The Colorado Rockies put a pair of right-handers on the 10-day injured list Saturday, including starter Jon Gray with a right flexor strain.

Jordan Sheffield also went on the IL with a right lat strain while the team recalled left-handers Ben Bowden and Lucas Gilbreath from Triple-A Albuquerque.

Gray left Friday night’s game against the visiting Oakland Athletics in the third inning after he allowed five runs on four hits and two walks with no strikeouts in 2 1/3 innings.

The 29-year-old Gray is 4-6 with a 4.29 ERA in 12 starts this season. He is 49-43 with a 4.56 ERA in 135 games (134 starts) with the Rockies.

Sheffield, 27, has a 3.26 ERA in 19 appearances with the Rockies. He made his major league debut April 2.

Bowden, 26, also made his major league debut April 2 and was 1-2 with a 6.39 ERA in 15 appearances for the Rockies earlier this season.

Gilbreath, 25, who made his debut on May 1, had an 8.64 ERA in nine appearances last month.
