Former Michigan football head coach Sherrone Moore has been arrested. On Wednesday night, Moore was arrested and booked in the Washtenaw County Jail, according to online court records. The former Michigan head coach was initially detained by police in Saline, Michigan, for an investigation into potential charges, as reported by ESPN’s Dan Wetzel and Pete Thamel.
Earlier on Wednesday, Michigan athletic director Warde Manuel announced that Moore was terminated, with cause, effective immediately. The shocking statement came after a University investigation that found credible evidence showing Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member.
Following the arrest, Pittsfield Charter Township released a statement on Wednesday night talking about the incident involving the former Michigan head coach. Moore wasn’t explicitly named due to the ongoing probe; however, the type of incident was revealed to be an “Assault Investigation.”
As of now, there are no pending charges for Moore, but it could change as the investigation progresses. Michigan now faces the challenge of finding a new head coach following a crazy cycle across college football. It has been one of the craziest days in Michigan football history, and it is far from over as Moore’s situation develops.
