Notre Dame will have a big hole to fill in their back field with top star Jeremiyah Love headed to the NFL. However, a pretty good replacement option is expected to enter next week’s transfer portal.
Despite going with a freshman QB in 2025, the Fighting Irish offense remained a formidable unit thanks to another big season from junior running back Jeremiyah Love. Year three was his best season yet, as he posted career highs in rushing yards (1,372), receiving yards (280), and total touchdowns (21).
The performance he had in 2025 is why he was a finalist for the Heisman Trophy, and he will be a first-round pick in April after he declared for the 2026 NFL Draft. His departure leaves a big hole to fill in the backfield.
They have a solid replacement option in fellow junior Jadarian Price. However, the transfer portal has become the NCAA’s version of free agency. And a proven veteran who could be just as impactful as Love just hit the portal.
Could Quintrevion Wisner Be a Transfer Portal Target for Notre Dame?
According to Pete Nakos of On3, Texas RB Quintrevion Wisner plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal. Like the rest of the team, the junior had a down season in 2025 as hamstring injuries limited him to nine starts. However, his performance last year is why Notre Dame should have him on their transfer portal wish list.
In 2024, he posted 1,067 rushing yards and also reeled in 311 passing yards on 44 receptions. He also had six touchdowns from scrimmage.
