Would the greatest college football coach of all time end up at Penn State following James Franklin’s firing? Nick Saban’s wife has weighed in.

During ESPN’s “College GameDay” on Saturday, co-host Pat McAfee asked Ms. Terry if they would head to Happy Valley if the university offered $50 million annually to have Saban lead the program.

“I have no doubt if Nick wanted to go back to coaching, he could win his eighth national championship, but we’re having too much fun,” she told the “College GameDay” crew. “And we wouldn’t want to take that opportunity away from all of our baby coaches, like Kirby [Smart] and Lane [Kiffin]. Too much fun. I haven’t heard a number yet.”

Saban responded: “Mrs. Always Right has spoken.”

After 17 years at Alabama, Saban retired following the 2023 season after winning six national championships and accumulating a 206-29 record, including 16-7 in bowl games. He also won a national championship at LSU.

Saban coming out of retirement seems unlikely, no matter how much money is offered. He’s 73 years old and has a comfortable role as a “College GameDay” analyst.

While it certainly wouldn’t hurt Penn State to reach out to Saban to gauge his interest, it would take extraordinary money to lure him back to coaching.
