Paige Shiver, the former executive assistant to fired University of Michigan head football coach Sherrone Moore, detailed a nearly four-year relationship in her first television interview. She claimed the relationship was marked by serious emotional manipulation.

Shiver gave shocking details in an interview with ABC News’ Linsey Davis on Good Morning America. She claimed Moore “had complete control over me,” and that he knowingly used that leverage against her during their affair.

According to Shiver, every time she tried to end the relationship or leave the university, Moore would pull her back in by complaining that he couldn’t make do without her.

“You alleged that you faced years of harassment, manipulation, and exploitation at the hands of Sherrone Moore. How so?” Davis asked.

“I mean, gosh, here’s a man that had complete control over me,” she replied. “Over my emotions, over my career. And he knew that, and he used it against me.”

“Every time I tried to pull away, every time I tried to get out of even Michigan, he always had a story, always had a way to pull me in and make me feel that I couldn’t leave him because he was so miserable without me.”

Shiver also revealed a major personal bombshell from the relationship: she allegedly became pregnant in May 2022. Diagnosed with Pompe Disease, a rare and progressive disorder, doctors advised her to terminate the pregnancy to avoid serious health complications.

She said Moore told her she “had to do what’s right” for her body, and she had the abortion in July 2022.

Moore was fired by the university in December 2025 after investigators found credible evidence of the inappropriate relationship. He avoided jail time earlier this month after a judge sentenced him to 18 months’ probation on two misdemeanor charges. The charges stemmed from a confrontation with Shiver after she broke off their affair.

Moore pleaded no contest to trespassing and malicious use of a telecommunications device in a domestic relationship. More serious charges—including felony home invasion and stalking—were dismissed as part of the deal.

The frightening incident took place the same day Moore was fired by the University of Michigan. According to details from the investigation and her account, Moore entered the residence, became emotional, and grabbed kitchen knives while making threats to harm himself. Shiver recalled the harrowing incident and maintained she feared for her life.

“All of a sudden, I hear footsteps, and they’re getting closer and louder, and I’m like, ‘Crap.’ So, I run to my door to try to lock it, he barges in, and he’s standing like ‘this’ close to me. And he said, ‘You ruined my life. Why would you do this to me?’ I start backing up, and he starts following me,” she said.

“He’s 6-4. He comes in with his hood up, looking down at me, saying I ruined his life, crying, and starts coming at me,” Shiver added. “I tell him to leave, and he’s not supposed to be here. He’s not listening to me. And he starts grabbing butter knives.”

Shiver also contends that the Michigan football program was well aware that Moore was violating the conduct portion of his contract with the university, saying their relationship was an “open secret.”

As for the former coach only getting probation, well, she’s not too happy about that either.

“Yes. I think he should have gotten more punishment for what he did,” Shiver said.
