The QB market for the upcoming college football transfer portal just added another big option for teams like LSU, Nebraska, Penn State, and Florida.
For decades, the best route to building an elite football program was getting the best players available from high school. However, the era of name, image, and likeness deals has completely changed things. NIL contracts have now made the transfer portal the NCAA’s version of free agency. Giving programs the chance to add proven players who can make huge impacts immediately.
Next week, the transfer portal market opens up and offers some big-time options for schools around the nation. Especially for those who have to replace their starting quarterbacks. Major programs like Clemson, LSU, Florida, Nebraska, Penn State, Indiana, and many others are looking for new starting QBs because their current ones are either leaving for the NFL Draft or entering the portal as well.
Fortunately for those schools, this has quickly become a strong transfer portal class for QBs. And it just got even better with the addition of a player who was just in the college football playoff.
Alonza Barnett III Is Another QB Option for LSU, Penn State, and Nebraska

On Friday, Hayes Fawcett of On3 reported that James Madison star Alonza Barnett III is the latest gifted QB in search of a big payday in next week’s transfer portal. The Dukes fell to Oregon last week in the opening round of the playoffs.
Barnett III played a key role in James Madison’s run to the CFP after throwing for 2,806 yards and 23 touchdowns to eight interceptions. However, he was a high-impact player on the ground as he rumbled for 589 rushing yards and 15 more TDs this past season. He would be a huge addition to any program that landed his services in the transfer portal next month.
