Valparaiso is expected to hire Gonzaga assistant Roger Powell as the school’s next coach, ESPN reported on Friday.

Powell will replace Matt Lottich, who posted a 108-117 record during his seven seasons as coach of the Beacons. Valparaiso went 11-21 overall and 5-15 in the Missouri Valley Conference last season.

Powell, 40, previously served as an assistant coach at Valparaiso (2011-16) and an associate head coach at Vanderbilt (2016-19) before joining Bulldogs as an assistant coach.
