LSU star Angel Reese made headlines with her brash gestures after the team’s national championship win last week, and she is likely to make some more after her Wednesday clap back to the First Lady of the United States.

The LSU Tigers women’s basketball team is on top of the world after winning the school’s first college basketball national title this past weekend. The game was a massive hit as it broke rating records for women’s title games and created headline fodder in the final moments and in the aftermath.

In the closing seconds of the game, LSU star Angel Reese went viral with some trash-talk gestures toward Iowa star Caitlin Clark. The moment was a source for stories all over the media landscape and seemed to set up a premiere rivalry for the next season of women’s college basketball.

Like the men’s national champions, the women’s team traditionally takes a visit to the White House for a meet and greet with the President at the White House. Well, First Lady Jill Biden created a bit of a media storm when she suggested that both teams should be invited to the White House this year.

It was a comment that received a great deal of blowback from fans and media alike as it would take away from the champion’s special moment.

During a Wednesday appearance on the “I Am Athlete” podcast, Angel Reese spoke on Biden’s thoughts and had a strong rebuke of the First Lady’s controversial idea that she believes was made after her display of bravado in the national title game.

“If we were to lose, we would not be getting invited to the White House. And I remember she made a comment that both teams should be invited because of sportsmanship. And, I’m like, are you saying that because of what I did? Stuff like that. It bothers me because you are a woman. You’re supposed to be standing behind us before anything. So it’s hard to see things like that and not to comment back.”

Jill Biden has publicly apologized since the comment, however, Reese has no interest in that apology and actually has an idea of her own about a different family for her and her LSU Tigers teammates to visit.

“I’m going to lie to you, I don’t accept the apology. Because you said what you said. You can’t go back on certain things that you said. You felt like they should have came because of sportsmanship right? They can have that spotlight. We’ll go to the Obamas. We’ll see Michele. We’ll see Barak.”

It will be interesting to see what happens if the team does still take their trip to Washington, DC in the coming days.
