Former Kansas swingman MJ Rice is returning to his home state and transferring to NC State.

The 6-foot-5 Rice played in 23 games as a freshman for the Jayhawks in 2022-23 but averaged just 7.6 minutes and 2.2 points per outing.

Before signing with Kansas, the Creedmoor, N.C., native was a McDonald’s All-American who considered signing with the Wolfpack.

Rice is the fourth player from the transfer portal to pick NC State, joining Jayden Taylor (Butler), DJ Horne (Arizona State) and Ben Middlebrooks (Clemson).
