Indianapolis Colts head coach Chuck Pagano has had some “brilliant” quotes in the past. Maybe, he’s just on the verge of absolutely losing his mind.
It could be something else. Either way, the struggling head coach just went all Jeff Fisher on us following the Colts’ shutout loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
To be fair, Pagano isn’t necessarily wrong here. Rigoberto Sanchez has punted the ball the second-most times in the NFL this season. He’s also tied with 49ers punter Bradley Pinion for the most balls downed inside the 20 yard line. Yes, we did research punter statistics.
Pagano and the Colts are 2-5 on the season. They rank 27th in the NFL at 17 points per game. They are also being outscored by an average of nearly 15 points per outing.
It’s possible that Pagano is channeling his inner Jeff Fisher simply because the Colts’ head coach knows he’ll follow the former Los Angeles Rams head man in the unemployment line soon enough.
