Los Angeles Dodgers utility man Chris Taylor will join teammate Corey Seager in rejecting the Los Angeles Dodgers’ $18.4-million qualifying offer and become a free agent, MLB Network reported Monday.
The Dodgers also offered the same deal to Seager, but he reportedly rejected it last week. Veteran left-hander Clayton Kershaw became a free agent when the Dodgers did not extend him a qualifying offer.
Taylor, 31, batted .254 with 20 home runs and 73 RBIs for the Dodgers this past season and was named an All-Star for the first time.
Acquired in 2016 from the Seattle Mariners in an unheralded trade, Taylor became a key piece for the championship-caliber Dodgers, batting .264 in 657 games over six seasons with 79 home runs and 299 RBIs while proving to be serviceable in the infield and outfield.
The Dodgers will receive a compensatory draft pick next year if Taylor or Seager sign deals with different teams.
