Chris Paul ‘really excited’ about trade to Golden State Warriors, has talked with Stephen Curry

For the second time in a week, future Hall of Fame guard Chris Paul was the part of a blockbuster NBA trade.

Just a few days after being sent from the Phoenix Suns to the Washington Wizards, Paul is headed to the Bay Area.

Earlier on Thursday, Washington dealt Paul to the Golden State Warriors in exchange for a package involving high-scoring guard Jordan Poole.

Golden State had been linked to the 12-time All-Star over the past few weeks. For Paul, it seems to be an ideal fit as he looks to win his first ever NBA title.

Paul opened up about the trade Thursday evening, talking with Scott Fowler of the Charlotte Observer. The star guard said that he’s excited to join the Warriors and has already talked with franchise legend Stephen Curry.

“Excited. I’ve got that question I don’t know how many times already. So, I’m really excited,” Chris Paul on trade to the Golden State Warriors.

Chris Paul stats (2022-23): 13.9 PPG, 4.3 RPG, 8.9 APG, 38% 3-point

Paul has a tricky history with the Warriors dating back to his days with the Los Angeles Clippers and Houston Rockets. That included several playoff matchups as Golden State’s conference rival.

With that said, this does seem to be an ideal fit for the two sides. Paul will likely back up Curry at the point. But it would not be a surprise if Steve Kerr went with a small-ball lineup. That would include Paul at the point, Curry playing the two, Klay Thompson at the three, Andrew Wiggins playing power forward and Draymond Green at center.
