Chiefs HC Andy Reid won’t rule out Patrick Mahomes for Sunday’s game against Packers

Kansas City Chiefs head coach Andy Reid would not completely rule out Patrick Mahomes from playing Sunday against the Green Bay Packers.

Speaking to reporters, Reid left the door open for his star to play.

“We are going to just see how he does,” Reid said, per KSHB in Kansas City. “I would probably say that it would be a stretch for him to get there, but he is working hard.”

This optimistic approach meshes well with what the Chiefs’ trainer said about Mahomes on Monday, noting he’s “progressing nicely” from the dislocated kneecap that knocked him out of last Thursday’s game against Denver.

Should Mahomes remain out of commission for the coming Week 8 contest against the Packers, then veteran Matt Moore will start under center. Hedging against Mahomes being ready, the Chiefs have also promoted undrafted rookie quarterback Kyle Shurmur from the practice squad.
