The Kansas City Chiefs arrived for Sunday’s AFC Championship Game with greater optimism as star defensive tackle Chris Jones is now expected to play through a calf injury.

Yahoo Sports’ Terez A. Paylor reported on Sunday morning that Jones was trending towards playing after he turned a corner in his recovery on Saturday. FanSided’s Matt Verderame is now reporting that Kansas City believes Jones will be active.

Even if Jones is on a snap count, his return would be a monumental boost for Kansas City’s defense.

The 25-year-old defensive tackle racked up 20 quarterback hits, nine sacks and eight tackles for loss this season.

Kansas City previously expressed doubt that Jones would be available to play against the Tennessee Titans. Now with the Jones likely set to return, things are going to become much more difficult for Tennessee’s offense.
