Ohio State star defensive end Chase Young was unable to suit up last weekend but is practicing with the team this week in hopes of playing Saturday against Rutgers.

Young was held out of last weekend’s game because of a loan he took from a family friend in December of last year so that he could send his girlfriend to the Rose Bowl, per reports. He admitted to taking the small loan, and repaying it. The NCAA deems it a violation, and there are reports he could be suspended four games.

Head coach Ryan Day told reporters Tuesday that the team is preparing Young to play but that at this time there is no update on his status.

“Yeah, I don’t have any update for you right now,” Day said, per 247 Sports. “It’s an ongoing process right now. But there’s no type of update I can give right now. I just know that it’s gong on right now and we will prepare for him to be back this week. He will practice this week, and then we will go from there.”

Dennis Dodd of CBS Sports reports that the school set to submit a report to the NCAA this week requesting that Young be immediately reinstated.

Even missing last weekend’s game, Young leads the nation with 13.5 sacks. He’s an absolute nightmare for opposing offenses and could be one of the first players taken in the 2020 NFL Draft.
