Chase Utley announces he will retire at end of the season

After 16 seasons in the majors, Chase Utley announced this season with the Los Angeles Dodgers will be his last.

The 39-year-old second baseman held a press conference on Friday and announced he will retire at the end of this season.

Utley, who the Dodgers acquired in 2015, will be remembered for his impressive contributions throughout much of his career.

Drafted No. 15 overall by the Philadelphia Phillies in 2000, Utley wore a Phillies’ uniform from 2003-15. During his tenure in Philadelphia, he was a six-time All-Star and won a World Series.
