Chase Elliott provided a ‘little life update’ to his social media channels on Friday with the revelation that he underwent surgery for a lingering shoulder injury but is expected to be fully healthy for the 2024 NASCAR Cup Series season.
“I had a little procedure to my shoulder, an old injury that I needed to get tended to, and obviously, the off-season is a much better time to do that than my last surgery.”
That, of course, is a reference to the leg injury that sidelined him for six races and largely prevented him from making the playoffs. In the video, his right arm is in a sling but insisted that he was “all good, ready to go” for next season.
In a team statement, Hendrick Motorsports said Elliott “underwent successful outpatient surgery to correct a torn labrum. The 2020 NASCAR Cup Series champion, who has experienced chronic shoulder pain in recent years, learned of the tear Monday following an MRI. It will not affect Elliott’s status for the 2024 NASCAR season, which begins in February.”
The surgery likely prevents Elliott from participating in any off-season racing activities, something he has resumed in recent years, with starts in events like the Snowball Derby, Chili Bowl Midget Nationals, and Rolex 24 to his resume.
