Trey Poole will take over as full-time spotter for Chase Elliott and the Hendrick Motorsports No. 9.

Poole, a cousin of Elliott, has long served as a secondary spotter for the No. 9 team at road courses and served in the primary role on an interim basis in 2021. Poole has also spotted many pavement short track races for Elliott over the years when father Bill wasn’t available.

Elliott had worked with Eddie D’Hondt for his entire Cup Series career to date — a tenure that includes all 18 wins and the 2020 Cup Series championship.

D’Hondt has moved to Stewart-Haas Racing to work with rookie Josh Berry and the No. 4 team.
