Chargers place Pro Bowl C Mike Pouncey on IR

They are dropping like flies in Los Angeles. Fresh off a surprising home loss to the previously winless Denver Broncos, the Chargers have reportedly placed four-time Pro Bowl center Mike Pouncey on injured reserve with a neck injury.

This is no small thing. Pouncey is one of the best centers in the NFL and has built up a tremendous relationship with Philip Rivers after signing ahead of the 2018 season.

The former first-round pick has started all 21 games in which he’s appeared in a season-plus with Los Angeles.

Pouncey joins the likes of Derwin James, Russell Okung, Melvin Ingram and Adrian Phillips as Chargers players dealing with major injuries.

Los Angeles heads into its Week 6 matchup with the Pittsburgh Steelers at 2-3 on the season and on the brink of irrelevance.
