Celtics Trade Brandan Wright to Suns

The Boston Celtics have shipped Brandan Wright to the Phoenix Suns for a conditional draft pick, giving angry Boston sportswriters column fodder for the next month.

The pick, acquired by the Suns from the Minnesota Timberwolves, is top-12 protected in both 2015 and 2016 – after that point, it turns into two second-round picks.

Wright was considered the most intriguing piece in the Rajon Rondo trade that happened earlier in the season. Over eight games as a Celtic, he posted 3.7 points and 2.1 rebounds per game. Wright did average 8.8 points and 4.1 rebounds in 27 games with the Mavericks prior to being dealt to Boston.

The Celtics gain flexibility moving forward, and now have 11 first round picks over the next four years. The Suns receive a rotational piece who can team with Markieff Morris and PJ Tucker to produce in their front-court.
