The Boston Celtics will be honoring one of the greatest players in modern franchise history next season.
The team announced on Thursday that Kevin Garnett’s No. 5 jersey will soon hang from the rafters at TD Garden.
Boston also released a pretty awesome tribute video for a player that will in all likelihood be inducted into the Hall of Fame next year.
This is some tremendous stuff.
Originally selected No. 5 overall by the Minnesota Timberwolves back in 1995, Garnett played for the Celtics from 2007-13.
He earned an All-Star appearance all but one season and helped lead Boston to the NBA Championship 2007-08.
Garnett becomes just the 24th player in Celtics history to have his jersey retired. It’s a honor he more than earned.
