Celtics guard Dennis Schroder entered the NBA health and safety protocols on Saturday, just about two hours before Boston’s scheduled Christmas Day matchup with the Milwaukee Bucks.

While teams throughout the NBA have been struggling with COVID-19 and injuries, the Celtics have been particularly hard hit. Schroder is the ninth member of the Celtics ruled out of the game against Milwaukee because of health and safety protocols, with four others listed as questionable. Two other players — Marcus Smart (left hip contustion) and Romeo Langford (Achilles) — are listed as questionable.

Among the players out because of health and safety protocols are Enes Freedom, C.J. Miles and Sam Hauser.

Juancho Hernangomez, Al Horford, Jabari Parker and Brodric Thomas are questionable.

Schroder, 28, is in his ninth NBA season and first in Boston. In 29 games (18 starts), he is averaging 16.3 points, 3.4 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.
