Carl Edwards gave an update on his life and talked about the desire to tour Trackhouse Racing but Edwards stressed he won't drive the No. 91 car.

Carl Edwards unexpectedly retired at the conclusion of the 2016 season after making the Championship 4 the same year. It was shocking as Edwards walked away from NASCAR at 36 years old which is near a driver’s prime.

Since his retirement, the now 43-year-old former driver has stayed off the grid with very few public interviews up until April 24, 2023. Edwards was officially named one of the 75 best NASCAR drivers in the history of the sport.

This comes after the former driver of the No. 19 car for Joe Gibbs Racing won 28 Cup Series races and one Xfinity Series championship. Now, Edwards has pucbly spoken about NASCAR for the first time since his interview with FOX Sports on April 2021.

Edwards was in a great position to win the 2016 NASCAR Cup Series championship; however, his block on Joey Logano on a late-race restart sent the No. 19 car into the inside wall and back up the track into oncoming traffic.

The Joe Gibbs Racing driver went from possibly winning a Cup Series title to shaking the hands of the No. 22 team after the incident. It would be the final time Edwards drove a race car and Jimmie Johnson went on to claim his seventh and final Cup Series championship.

Edwards was then rumored to run for the open Missouri senate seat in the Republican primary in 2022; however, he shut those rumors down for the time being while leaving the door open for politics in the future.

Now, his name has re-entered the NASCAR world with the latest news. Edwards hopped on SiriusXM NASCAR Radio after the honor was given to discuss his current life and more about NASCAR in general.

“Things are good. I’m finally growing up. I’m learning a lot. I’m just trying to live my life the best I can…we’re farming a little bit…I’ve been watching all the new stuff happening. I was just texting with Justin Marks. I’m hoping to go down to Nashville and see the (Trackhouse Racing) facility soon…I don’t mean we’re going to like- I’m not taking a seat insert or anything, but yes, I’m going to go check it out. He’s such a cool guy and that story is amazing. I’m just excited to see the shop.”

Carl Edwards on life after NASCAR and Trackhouse Racing

It is great that Edwards is enjoying his post-NASCAR driving career but he almost started a really big rumor before promptly shutting it down. In fact, the former driver was pretty adamant that PROJECT 91 was not the reason for his desire to tour Trackhouse Racing.

The organization debuted about five years after Edwards’ retirement so he never has gotten the chance to check them out. Trackhouse Racing’s appeal is great for the sport and one that is continuously grabbing the attention of other people, such as Edwards.

While Edwards won’t be returning to NASCAR as a driver, it is really cool to know he is doing well in life and still following the sport this long after his career ended. Who knows, maybe Edwards will be back at the race track one day as a fan.
