Cardinals WR John Brown had a cyst removed from his spine

Arizona Cardinals wide receiver John Brown experienced a setback in production in 2016. Various health issues, including a cyst that Brown had removed from his spine, influenced his decline.

After surgery, Brown says he is doing much better.

“I most definitely feel confident,” Brown said of the upcoming season per Darren Urban of the team’s official website. “Since they found out the situation, my body has been feeling better. I am doing the usual, which I couldn’t do when I was going through this process.”

Brown also dealt with symptoms relating to carrying the sickle cell trait at times last year. But according to this report, that the cyst was a large cause of Brown’s lethargy.

“I was sleeping too much. I couldn’t eat right. My body just wasn’t in it,” Brown said after a recent workout. “I couldn’t do anything, really. I was just drained out.”

When Brown is in top physical form, he is a tremendous asset playing opposite veteran wideout Larry Fitzgerald. In 2015, Brown set career highs in receptions (65), yards (1,003) and touchdowns (seven).

In 2017, those numbers plummeted to 39 catches for 517 yards and two touchdowns. He played in 15 games, starting in just six.

Now healthy, it looks like Brown is planning a trip to work out with Palmer and entertain Palmer’s kids.

“If he wants me there I’ll be there,” Brown said. “For the kids, I’ll do some backflips, do (my) Cookie Monster. I’m feeling great.”

If Brown is doing backflips, he must truly be feeling quite healthy.
