The Arizona Cardinals solved their short-term situation at quarterback by reportedly picking up Sam Bradford on a one-year, $20 million contract. It’s a move that will be made official when free agency officially opens up on Wednesday.
In no way does this mean the Cardinals themselves are set at quarterback. Until Bradford officially signs, there’s not a single quarterback under contract on the team’s roster. And Bradford himself is seen as a major injury risk after playing in all of two games due to a bum knee last season.
Needless to say, Arizona is going to look to solve its long-term quarterback situation in next month’s draft. According to this report, that could come in the form of trading up for Wyoming product Josh Allen.

By our estimation, there are five quarterback-needy teams selecting ahead of Arizona at 15th overall in the draft. That now includes a Buffalo Bills squad that traded up to the 12th selection by moving Cordy Glenn to Cincinnati earlier in the week.
In order to guarantee themselves Allen, the Cardinals will likely have to move up beyond the Jets at No. 6 overall. Then again, the Bills themselves are said to be looking to move up into the top five.
In any event, this is most definitely something to keep an eye on as free agency starts and teams turn their attention to the coming draft.
