Cardinals place QB Carson Palmer on injured reserve

In a somewhat surprising move on Thursday, the Arizona Cardinals have placed starting quarterbak Carson Palmer on injured reserve with a broken arm.

Palmer was originally expected to miss eight weeks of action after suffering said injury last week. Though, Palmer himself more recently seemed optimistic that he would be able to return before then.

That’s obviously no longer going to be the case. Even if it is with a designation to return, Palmer wouldn’t be eligible to return until Week 16. This means that the veteran’s season is all but over.

Arizona will now rely on Drew Stanton to take snaps under center. Should he struggle, fellow veteran Blaine Gabbert would be next in line.

At 3-4 on the season, this is most definitely bad news for the struggling Cardinals.
