Canucks’ president Jim Rutherford enters COVID-19 protocol

Vancouver Canucks president of hockey operations Jim Rutherford has entered the NHL’s COVID-19 protocol, the team announced on Thursday.

Per the Canucks, the 73-year-old is working from home during his quarantine period.

Rutherford joined the Canucks on Dec. 9 after previously serving as general manager of the Pittsburgh Penguins.

He guided the Carolina Hurricanes to the Stanley Cup title in 2006 as pfresident and general manager and the Penguins to championships in both 2016 and 2017 from his GM post. He was named to the Hockey Hall of Fame in 2019.

Rutherford played 13 seasons (1970-83) in the NHL as a goaltender, with the majority of his career spent with the Detroit Red Wings.
