Cancer survivor David Quessenberry lands on Texans practice squad

The Houston Texans released David Quessenberry in their cut down to 53 players Saturday but have signed him to their practice squad one day later.

Quessenberry was originally drafted by Houston in 2013 in the sixth round out of San Jose State. He has never made an appearance in a regular season game. He suffered a season-ending injury as a rookie, came back the next year only to develop symptoms that were ultimately diagnosed as Lymphoma.

He beat cancer and made his way back into the NFL this year, finally stopping his chemotherapy treatments just this past April. Remarkably, he was able to compete for a roster spot and will now be able to continue pursuing his NFL dream as a member of Houston’s practice squad.
