Buffalo Bills to Start Out with a Four-Headed Quarterback Competition

As unappealing as the four quarterbacks that the Buffalo Bills have to work with during the offseason are, the fact remains that they are tasked with the challenge actually finding a starter.

EJ Manuel, Matt Cassel, Tyrod Taylor and Jeff Tuel will all take part in an open competition for the starting gig.

Apparently, everyone will get their chance to work with the first team over the summer. This news shouldn’t come as too much of a surprise, especially considering Rex Ryan’s propensity for a fierce quarterback competition. Remember the whole Mark Sanchez/Tim Tebow competition of yesteryear? What about Geno Smith going up against a failed Michael Vick last summer? Ouch!

The upside here is that Ryan boasts the best coordinator he’s had in the form of Greg Roman. The likely pecking order will trickle down to the quarterbacks mentioned above. Buffalo does not possess a pick in the first round of the upcoming draft, so getting that franchise quarterback is out of the question.

Despite putting together a solid offseason and potentially fielding a talent-laden team, Buffalo needs to figure out its quarterback situation if the team is going to contend in 2015.

That plan begins now.
