Tom Brady confirmed Friday that his 13-year marriage with Gisele Bundchen is over.
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback wrote on Instagram that their divorce was finalized in recent days.
“We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together,” Brady wrote. “We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way. We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention that they deserve.”
Bundchen also took to social media to announce the news on Friday.
“With much gratitude for our time together, Tom and I have amicably finalized our divorce,” she wrote on Instagram. “My priority has always been and will continue to be our children whom I love with all my heart.”
Brady, 45, and Bundchen, 42, have two children — son Benjamin, 12, and daughter Vivian, 9. He has a 15-year-old son, John, from a previous relationship.
Brady, whose Buccaneers lost their third straight game on Thursday night, said they arrived at the decision to split after much consideration.
“Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world,” he wrote. “However we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written.”
Brady concluded his post by asking for privacy and respect as they “navigate what is to come in the days and weeks ahead.”
TMZ reported Friday that paperwork was being filed in Florida and that terms of the agreement will remain sealed and confidential.
Their divorce involves a division of millions of dollars’ worth of assets for the couple, who married in February 2009. Multiple reports have put the value of their property portfolio at $26 million.
Brady landed at No. 9 on Forbes’ 2022 list of highest-paid athletes, with the publication pegging the seven-time Super Bowl champion’s annual salary at $83.9 million — $52 million of it in endorsements. When he retires, he has a job waiting for him as the No. 1 football analyst at FOX Sports, where he is signed to a 10-year, $375 million deal.
Celebrity Net Worth has estimated the fortune of Bundchen, a model and entrepreneur, at $400 million.
