Buccaneers bring back Blaine Gabbert to back up Tom Brady

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have brought back quarterback Blaine Gabbert, who will back up Tom Brady, on a one-year contract, per Ian Rapoport of NFL Media.

Gabbert was on Tampa Bay’s roster last year but ended up on injured reserve due to a shoulder injury and did not register any stats during the regular season.

A former first-round bust as a member of the Jacksonville Jaguars, he’s been a backup around the NFL for the past half-decade. Bringing him back into the fold makes a ton of sense, mainly because he knows the system in Tampa Bay and should be an invaluable resource to Brady in the quarterback room.
