Bryce Harper honors Jose Fernandez with touching All-Star Game spikes

Bryce Harper is one of the most annoying MLB players today

With the Miami Marlins hosting the MLB All-Star Game, plenty of tributes to late Marlins pitcher Jose Fernandez should be expected. One of those tributes is coming from Washington Nationals star Bryce Harper, who will honor Fernandez with his spikes.

That’s a beautiful tribute for a man who made quite an impact on and off the field in a life that was far too short.

Fernandez, who was Cuban, was a role model for Miami’s vast Cuban population before passing away at only 24 in September of 2016 in a tragic boating accident.

Despite dying at such a young age, and the fact that he missed parts of two seasons while recovering from Tommy John Surgery, Fernandez still made two All-Star Games in his career.

Had he been alive, it’s likely that he would have had a prominent role in the week’s festivities.
