Former Arizona Cardinals head coach Bruce Arians led the charge of equality within the league’s coaching ranks during his time in the desert.

That included bringing in a well-respected Jen Welter as an intern during training camp and the preseason back in 2015.

Now in his first year as the Tampa Bay Buccaneers’ head coach, Arians announced on Wednesday that he has hired two full-time female assistant coaches.

Outside of their positions, strength and conditioning departments, there are no further details as it relates to the moves.

Even then, this is just the latest example of the NFL working to give knowledgeable women an opportunity within the coaching ranks.

Katie Sowers is entering her third season as a full-time offensive assistant for the San Francisco 49ers.

This came after an internship with current 49ers head coach Kyle Shanahan during his days as the Atlanta Falcons’ offensive coordinator. She’s also the first LGBTQ coach in league history.

Progression is the name of the game here. And it certainly has been a long time coming.
