Browns one of multiple teams using Scot McCloughan’s scouting services

Scot McCloughan

Prior to the Super Bowl, a report came out that Scot McCloughan was working for the Cleveland Browns as a personnel consultant for the upcoming NFL Draft. As it turns out, that report is only partially true.

McCloughan is, indeed, working for the Browns. But he’s not stopping with just Cleveland.

“Contrary to the impression created by a report that surfaced prior to the Super Bowl, McCloughan hasn’t limited himself to the Browns or any one team,” Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk noted. “McCloughan has multiple teams to whom he provides scouting services.”

It’s not surprise that more than one team would want to work with McCloughan. He has a long and generally well decorated history when it comes to drafts.

He was the San Francisco 49ers general manager when they drafted much of the roster that went to three straight NFC Championship Games. McCloughan also served as a senior personnel executive for the Seattle Seahawks when they drafted the core of the team that would win consecutive NFC Championships and a Super Bowl in 2013-2014.

Most recently, he served as the Washington Redskins’ general manager until he was fired after the 2016 season.
