Browns favored at home for first time since 2015

Bengals vs. Browns, dawg pound

Although the Cleveland Browns are most eager to break a string of 19 straight winless games, a different streak has already ended in Week 3.

ESPN’s Ben Fawkes notes the team is a three-point favorite over the New York Jets heading into their Thursday night clash. The last time Cleveland wasn’t an underdog at home happened in Week 14 of the 2015 season.

In other words, that was a Johnny Manziel, Robert Griffin III, DeShone Kizer, Kevin Hogan, Cody Kessler, Charlie Whitehurst, Josh McCown and Austin Davis ago.

So, yeah, it’s been a while.

Best of all for Cleveland, it’s a legitimately understandable billing. The Browns took the Pittsburgh Steelers to overtime in Week 1 and held a fourth-quarter lead despite the road loss to the New Orleans Saints last Sunday.

No, those aren’t wins. But it’s still foolish to say those shortcomings say nothing about Cleveland’s ability this season.

One streak is over. Now, Cleveland hopes to end the most glaring one.
