Despite being a part of the two biggest trades before this year’s NBA trade deadline, the Brooklyn Nets are reportedly still looking to make even more moves before 3 PM ET on Thursday.
The Nets have been the epicenter of the 2023 trade market as they have gone from an elite team in the Eastern Conference to an organization rebuilding their roster midseason. The dominos to this paradigm shift began after Kyrie Irving asked for an escape from New York last week and was then shipped off to the Dallas Mavericks.
Late last night, it seems that the team’s conversations with remaining superstar Kevin Durant resulted in the decision to add the 13-time All-Star to the outgoing shipping last, and they then mailed him off to the Phoenix Suns in a blockbuster deal.

However, after two deals that landed them several solid additions like Spencer Dinwiddie, Cam Johnson, Mikal Bridges, and Jae Crowder — as well as a horde of future draft picks — it looks like the Brooklyn Nets are far from done wheeling and dealing ahead of the NBA trade deadline.
Following the Kevin Durant trade on Wednesday night, ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski reported that Brooklyn is “expected to explore trade scenarios for Jae Crowder” before 3 PM ET on Thursday. Crowder has not played this season after the Phoenix Suns decided to send him home and looked to find a new home for the 10-year veteran.
However, the potential remodeling does not end with Crowder. Rumors have started to swirl that a couple of players that have been on the roster all season could also be headed out of town as well. Following the Durant trade, the word is that the team could seek out a deal for disappointing 2022 acquisition Ben Simmons.
Furthermore, Cleveland Plain Dealer NBA writer Chris Fedor reported on Thursday that the Cleveland Cavaliers are hovering around the Brooklyn Nets to see if they could make a deal for six-year veteran Royce O’Neale as they look to find a swingman upgrade ahead of the NBA playoffs.
The 2023 NBA trade deadline could forever be remembered as the year the Nets’ grand plans fell apart and they made a record amount of moves.
