LeBron James’ oldest son Bronny James commits to USC Trojans

LeBron James may not be taking the floor until 8:30 PM ET tonight when his Los Angeles Lakers host the Golden State Warriors for Game 3 of their playoff series. But the future Hall of Famer already has reason to celebrate after his son Bronny James announced his commitment to the USC Trojans in the fall.

The younger James also had Oregon and Ohio State in his list of finalists but ultimately chose to stay closer to home, where he played for Sierra Canyon High School, located in Chatsworth, California.

Suddenly the Trojans become must-watch basketball not only for hoops fans, but for sports fans everywhere. The chance to see how James’ oldest son continues to develop in front of our eyes will be one you don’t want to miss.

Expectations are that James will spend just one year at USC before declaring for the 2024 NBA Draft. His draft projections are all over the place, but a strong year could firmly entrench him as a upper-echelon first-round prospect. Plus, being the son of one of, if not the greatest basketball player likely won’t hurt.

The younger James stands in at 6-foot-3, and is considered a shooting guard. The website 247Sports has Bronny James ranked as the 26th-best high school recruit in the nation. While James will steal most of the headlines, he’s not even the top-ranked recruit on the Trojans’ roster. Fellow commit Isaiah Collier is the top-ranked recruit in the nation, helping form a strong core when paired with James too.
