The oldest son of Los Angeles Lakers star LeBron James has been in the news a lot recently. Bronny James is entering his first year playing basketball at USC and will likely be a first-round pick in the 2023 NBA Draft.

Unfortunately, that’s not why he’s in the news right now. James suffered a cardiac arrest during practice at USC on Monday. According to several reports, James is now in stable condition and out of the Intenstive Care Unit.

“Yesterday while practicing Bronny James suffered a cardiac arrest,” a James family spokesperson said in a statement. “Medical staff was able to treat Bronny and take him to the hospital. He is now in stable condition and no longer in ICU. We ask for respect and privacy for the James family and we will update media when there is more information.

LeBron and Savannah wish to publicly send their deepest thanks and appreciation to the USC medical and athletic staff for their incredible work and dedication to the safety of their athletes.”

James, 18, is entering his freshman season with the Trojans. Per ESPN, he is the 20th-ranked recruit nationally in 2023 and the sixth-best point guard.

We’re projecting him to be a late lottery pick in the 2024 NBA Draft. Whether this medical emergency plays a role in what happens moving forward remains to be seen.

Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin suffered from a cardiac arrest during a game against the Cincinnati Bills last season. First responders on the scene saved his life. Hamlin himself sent out a post on social media sending his thoughts to Bronny James and his family.

We’ll provide updates when they are made available.
