Denver Broncos wide receiver Cody Latimer had himself one heck of a Memorial Day.
According to the Arapahoe County Sheriff’s Office in Colorado, the former second-round pick called the sheriff’s office at just after 2:30 a.m. on Monday morning claiming that his girlfriend, Jaimee Rando, “put her hands on him.”
Rando, 25, was arrested on charges of assault and disturbing the peace when members of the Denver Police Department showed up at the scene (via a local NBC affiliate in Colorado).
It doesn’t get any less interesting from there.
Authorities, presumably running Latimer’s name through their system, realized that there was a warrant out for his arrest for failing to show up to court stemming from a traffic violation back in 2015.
In this, both Latimer and his girlfriend were arrested and booked into Arapahoe County Jail.
After settling his issue by paying a $311 fine, Latimer apparently bailed his girlfriend out of jail.
Following the incident, the third-year wide receiver had this to say via Twitter.

It most definitely is an interesting situation. Though, there’s very little reason to believe that Latimer will face further charges from authorities or discipline from the National Football League.
Let’s just hope the situation between his girlfriend and himself was an isolated deal. Domestic violence, no matter who perpetrates it, is a scary situation and something to take seriously.
Latimer, 23, has recorded just eight receptions for 82 yards and a score in two seasons with the Broncos. He was a member of their Super Bowl winning squad last year.
