A week after his shocking release from the Oakland Raiders, All-Pro punter Marquette King is expected to sign with the division-rival Denver Broncos.

Needless to say, the decision to move on to Denver likely had a lot to do with the way King’s career in Oakland ended. It also doesn’t hurt that Mile High is pretty much a punter’s dream come true due to its high altitude.

King was reportedly released by the Raiders due to what is being described as a personality conflict with new head coach Jon Gruden. In and of itself, that’s interesting given that league rules prevent coaches from meeting with players until offseason activities start. They have not yet started in Oakland.

King, 29, is among the best punters in the game. Last season saw him average 47.4 yards per punt. He earned Second-Team All Pro honors back in 2016.
