Broncos head coach on Drew Lock: ‘He’s not a quarterback yet’

Ron Chenoy-USA TODAY Sports

Denver Broncos rookie second-round pick Drew Lock has a lot to prove heading into his initial NFL campaign.

It also seems that the quarterback has a lot to prove to the Denver Broncos brass, first-year head coach Vic Fangio included.

In talking about his young quarterback at the start of training camp on Friday, Fangio had this to say.

There’s no sugar-coating it, Lock is a major project despite starting for the past three-plus seasons as Missouri.

Denver fell in love with the 6-foot-4 signal caller during the pre-draft process. Even after landing Joe Flacco in a trade, general manager John Elway and Co. was able to pick Lock up in the second round of the annual event in April.

The Broncos are hoping that Lock ends their long-term quarterback issues, but Fangio is not putting the cart before the horse.
