Broncos HC Vic Fangio could miss debut with kidney stone

New Denver Broncos head coach Vic Fangio has waited more than three decades to become a head coach in the NFL.

Fangio, 60, was set to make his debut in Thursday’s Hall of Fame Game against the Atlanta Falcons.

That’s now in question. According to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, Fangio is in a local Cleveland hospital with a kidney stone. He has yet to pass it, leading to the possibility that Fangio’s head-coaching debut might have to wait another week.

While Thursday’s preseason opener is meaningless in the grand scheme of things, this would hurt big time. Fangio has put the work in for the past 32 years, culminating in a head-coaching job. Now, a freak incident could cost him said opener.
