Broncos’ Emmanuel Sanders exits practice with leg injury

Battling for their playoff lives heading into the final quarter of the season, the Denver Broncos could be without No. 1 receiver Emmanuel Sanders for a while.

Sanders left Wednesday’s practice with that is being described as a leg injury. Per those at the scene, the Pro Bowl receiver couldn’t put any pressure on his leg.

Having traded Demaryius Thomas back in October, this latest injury could force rookie receiver Courtland Sutton into larger role.

The second-round pick caught four passes for 85 yards and a touchdown in a win over Cincinnati last week and leads the NFL with an average of nearly 20 yards per reception this season.

It’s obviously too early to tell how serious Sanders’ injury is. But given he couldn’t put any pressure on the leg, that’s certainly not a good sign.

Denver takes on the two-win San Francisco 49ers this coming Sunday after having reeled off three consecutive wins.
