Notre Dame head football coach Brian Kelly said what we were all thinking about his performance leading the 4-8 Fighting Irish last season. Discussing quarterback Brandon Wimbush, who got off to a tough start this year, Kelly shared the message he gave his offensive leader during that rough patch.
Brian Kelly's message to Wimbush when struggling: "I was a pretty bad coach last year, and people stuck with me. We're sticking with you."

It’s a pretty amazing quote.
It also seems to have worked wonders. Wimbush had a two-game stretch against Georgia and Boston College where he completed less than half his passes while throwing no touchdowns and one interception. Notre Dame went 1-1 in those games.
Since then, the young dual-threat quarterback has thrown four touchdowns and scored six total while throwing no interceptions and leading two blowout wins over Michigan State and Miami (OH).
The Fighting Irish are now 4-1 on the season, ranked No. 21 in the nation. They will hit the road for a game against the reeling North Carolina Tar Heels before their bit rivalry game against the USC Trojans, which comes after a bye in Week 7.
